Customer Terms & Conditions
Lesson Fees & Payments
Lesson prices are confirmed at the time of booking. Fees may be reviewed at any time with at least one month’s notice. Payment can be made by bank transfer (preferred), cash at the start of your lesson, or PayPal (if agreed in advance). Block bookings must be paid in full at the start of your first lesson. If you cancel partway through a block, refunds will be considered. Any lessons already taken will be recalculated at the standard pay-as-you-go rate, plus one lesson fee for admin costs.
Lesson Bookings
All lessons must be confirmed directly with your instructor. Please book in advance where possible, as weekly slots are in high demand. Lessons are only available to pupils who hold a valid UK provisional licence. If your licence details change, or if you receive any penalty points, you must inform your instructor immediately.
Cancellations
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full. Repeated short-notice cancellations or long gaps between lessons may result in your space being offered to another pupil. Prepaid hours may be forfeited in these cases.
Practical Driving Test
You are responsible for booking your own driving test through the official DVSA website. Your instructor will advise when you are ready and can support you with test-day planning. On test day, the use of the instructor’s car and time is charged at a minimum of 1.5 hours. Take The Wheel Driving School reserves the right to refuse the use of the tuition car for a driving test if your driving is below test standard, lesson attendance or progress has been inconsistent, you appear unwell or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if any fees remain unpaid. If a test cannot go ahead due to your own error (for example, wrong date, time, or test centre), the normal lesson fee will still apply.
Dashcam Recording & Privacy
For safety, insurance, and training purposes, all tuition vehicles are equipped with front, rear, and internal dash cameras. These cameras record video and audio automatically when the vehicle is in use. Recordings are stored securely and overwritten on a loop unless retained for a specific reason such as a collision, insurance claim, complaint, or training review. Dashcams comply with UK Data Protection (GDPR) standards. Footage is not shared publicly without your consent. You may request deletion of identifiable footage once no longer required. During DVSA driving tests, the interior camera and microphone are turned off in line with official DVSA guidance.
Social Media & Promotional Use
From time to time, Take The Wheel Driving School may share short photos or video clips on social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, website). This is always optional. We will ask for your written permission first before using any photo or video that includes you. If you are under 18, parental or guardian consent will be required before any content is shared. You can withdraw consent at any time by notifying your instructor. Opting out of social media use will not affect your lessons in any way.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your lessons or service, please contact us directly in the first instance. We aim to resolve all matters quickly and professionally. Complaints can be made by emailing contact@takethewheel.co.uk.
Liability
Lesson and test bookings are accepted on the understanding that Take The Wheel Driving School and its instructors are not liable for any costs, expenses, or losses resulting from cancellation or postponement of lessons or tests for any reason, unavailability of an instructor or tuition vehicle, mechanical breakdowns, traffic delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
Data Protection
Take The Wheel Driving School complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal data (including contact details, lesson progress, and dashcam footage) is collected only for legitimate business, safety, or training purposes and will never be shared with third parties without consent. A full Data Protection Policy is available on request.
